Intern & Extern Program

Purpose:

To give Hospitality or Culinary students the opportunity to experience different phases of resort operations.

Length of Program:

Will be determined by the requirements of the college or university, but will be NO LESS THAN 3 MONTHS.

Dates of available programs typically run from mid-May to mid-August.

Participation Requirements:

The participants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a hospitality, culinary, or related major, and be in good standing. 

Procedure:

Students have the option of enrolling in one of the following departments:

 

Hospitality & Lodging | Food & Beverage* / Sales & Catering | Retail | Boat Rentals

 

In certain situations, an internship in a different department such as Human Resources, might be an option.

Although students will be able to participate in all aspects of operations, it must be remembered that they will be

rotated through a specific department.  During the internship, students will be required to complete on the job

training in their assigned department, as well as specific tasks assigned by their managers and Human Resources.

Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas will make every effort to meet the requirements of the college or university for internships.

You will need the requisition number of CR 38879 to complete the application.  That is the number that

will send your application to the Lake Powell inbox. 

Externs:

A qualifying extern will follow much of the same procedure.  In many cases, externships are required to last for 400 hours or

for 3 months, which ever is greater.  Those wishing to gain an externship must have completed all courses at a qualifying

institution, and must be available to re-locate to the aforementioned marina.  Culinary externships typically last 3 months.
