Welcome to the Team!

Congratulations on successfully completing all pre-employment requirements for your position! We are excited to have you join the Lake Powell Team! You will find all of the information below that you will need to arrive on your scheduled orientation date.

Feel free to contact Human Resources with any other questions you may have 435-684-3082.

When is Orientation?
Orientation is held every Tuesday at 9:00am in the training room located at Bullfrog Administration. You should have been scheduled for a specific orientation date by now. If you need to reschedule your first day of work/orientation, contact your manager as early as possible so that they can notify Human Resources.

It is important for you to know that once you have been scheduled for orientation, your department is expecting you to start on that date. Any last minute changes to your arrival date may void your job offer as your department may need someone else to take your place.

If you haven't been told when to report for orientation or have any questions about your start date, contact your manager.

Plan on taking the 8:00am ferry to Bullfrog. If the ferry isn’t running, please make arrangements with your manager to take a boat to Bullfrog.

What should I bring to Orientation?
1) Federal Law requires all employees to provide positive documentation and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.  Upon arrival, employees must provide original documentation.  International students must have a visa allowing work in the U.S. and their passport. (For a complete list of acceptable documents see page 5 of the following link. A copy of this is also included with your employment details letter.)

2) A voided check to set up direct deposit, if you choose.

Please note that we will be taking employee ID card pictures on this day.

What if I haven't completed my electronic Form I-9 before I arrive on property?
We realize that not all of our employees who are hired will have access to the internet, which may make it difficult for them to complete the electronic I-9 prior to their arrival on property. Computers will be available from 8:00am - 9:00am before orientation for those that need to complete the electronic Form I-9. We prefer that this form is completed before orientation starts at 9:00am. Directions on how to complete this requirement are included in your Employment Details Letter.

What will my first week of work look like?
Your first week of work will be a week of training. All candidates who are hired will start work on a Tuesday and go through orientation. Attending this orientation is a requirement of the job. Following orientation, each employee will go through a series of customer service, systems, and job specific training courses to ensure that each person feels comfortable performing their job.

Where will I live?
Hall’s Crossing Marina offers dorm rooms for seasonal employees. Dorm rooms are $160/month for single occupancy or $80/month each for double occupancy. Each dorm room has its own private bathroom. We have a cafeteria in peak season that serves lunch and dinner and meals range from $3.50 to $5.50/meal. The deposit for a dorm room is $125 each. Rent, meal cards and the deposit are deducted from your paycheck for your convenience. There are no pets allowed in the dorms. Seasonal employees may also stay in their own RV’s and rent a site for $150/month.

If you have been advised by your manager or Human Resources that you will be living in a housing unit other than the dorms and have any questions, call Housing at 435-684-7000.

Please note that all pre-employment background screenings must come back clear before anyone can move into housing.

If I'm going to be living in employee housing, when should I arrive?
You should arrive on the Monday before your orientation date, between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm. Please notify Housing at 435-683-7000 in advance to make other arrangements.

Are there cooking facilities available to use?
In the dorm common area, there is a microwave and a community fridge. You can bring a small fridge if you want, but otherwise, cooking of any kind is prohibited in the dorm rooms, including microwaves and hot plates.

What is the best way to get to Hall’s Crossing Marina?
By Car:
For driving directions, visit maps.randmcnally.com and type in Hall’s Crossing, UT as the destination. Please note that if you are travelling to Hall’s Crossing from the North, call 435-684-3082 to find out about the current ferry schedule or to get alternate directions.

By Plane and/or Bus:
Fly into Salt Lake City, UT or Grand Junction, CO, then take the Greyhound bus to Green River, UT. From there, a shuttle will take you the rest of the way to Bullfrog, UT, where you can take the ferry to Hall’s Crossing. It is important that you plan your trip so that you arrive in Green River, UT on a Monday as that is the only day the shuttle is available. To schedule this shuttle, please call the Bullfrog Lodge at 435-684-3032 a couple weeks in advance and again when you arrive in Green River, UT.

 What should I bring?
You will be living and working in a hot and arid region. Please pack to accommodate these conditions. It is advisable to bring clothes that will be comfortable during the hot summer months and to also be prepared for chilly nights and cooler fall temperatures. You are also encouraged to bring any personal items such as music, books, and special foods while keeping in mind that storage space is limited in a dorm room. See below for a list of things we recommend you consider bringing:

· Enough money to get by until your first paycheck (usually within 3 weeks)
· Twin sheets, pillows, blankets and hangers
· Toiletries (toothpaste, toilet paper, toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, etc.)
· Professional, work-related shoes
· Towels
· Sunscreen
· Sunglasses
· Driver License, Passport, or other state-issued ID
· Additional I9 documents
· Paper and pens
· Any medications you need to take
· First aid supplies, like a hiker’s first aid kit
· Laptop with wireless capability (if you have one)
· Cell phone or calling card
· Any other personal items you may need

Should I bring my computer to Hall’s Crossing?
Many employees prefer to have their own computer since we have a limited amount of computers for employees to use. We do have wireless access in our recreation center as well as limited service in the dorms, but the connection is not always steady. ARAMARK Parks and Destinations-Lake Powell is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.

Will I get cell service?
Hall’s Crossing Marina does have cell phone reception, though it can be spotty and cause dropped calls. The best reception is through Verizon.

Will I be able to receive mail while living in employee housing?
If you need something shipped, please send it via UPS to:

YOUR NAME
c/o Hall’s Crossing
Highway 276
Hall’s Crossing, UT 84533

For all other mail, you can open a post office box when you arrive. Until then, you can use:

When I am not working, what is there to do?
You have the opportunity to create experiences in one of the world's most aesthetic and unique landscapes. The area offers a wide variety of activities: wakeboarding, water-skiing, hiking, camping, sight-seeing, photography, lazy days on the beach, renting a powerboat, going to other National Parks nearby, and much, much more!

There are also employee activities planned throughout the season such as game nights, dinners, sporting events, boating trips and craft nights. The employee recreation center has a TV, pool table and a tennis court nearby.

My family/friends want to visit me while I'm there this summer. Are there any special discount programs for friends and family?
We offer special Friends and Family rates at Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas. Contact Human Resources for the current rates and deals. In addition, the Lake Powell Resort (at Wahweap Marina) offers free boat tours to the friends and family of current employees. Contact our Boat Tours department for more details at 928 645 1125.

How will I get around property (if I don’t have a car)?
For employees working at Hall’s Crossing Marina, we do have a courtesy shuttle that provides transportation around the property and trips to town once or twice a month on a first-come, first-served basis. Keep in mind that the shuttles are for guests first and to plan ahead. You can also walk, bike or carpool.

Where should I apply for a Social Security card?
From Hall’s Crossing, the nearest Social Security Administration office is in Grand Junction, CO, about a three and a half hours away via Bullfrog. If you need information about getting to or contacting the Social Security office, you can go to: www.socialsecurity.gov (you will be asked to type in a zip code, use 81501 for Grand Junction, CO). There is also one in Durango, CO (81310).

How can someone get in touch with me?
For regular, every day communicating, you will need your own personal cell phone or computer. We do not have any payphones on property.

In the event you don't have a personal cell phone or computer and if your family would like to get a message to you, you can advise them to call Housing at 435-684-7000. You can also get a direct phone number from your department manager to give to family members in case of an emergency.

Can I have my paycheck direct deposited?
We strongly encourage employees to receive their pay checks via direct deposit.  There are numerous benefits to this.  You will have access to your paycheck funds more quickly and you won't have to go into town to deposit you money or cash your check.

Direct Deposit
If you do not currently have a checking account, we suggest you open one before you arrive.  Many banks offer free checking with a direct deposit option.  In order to set up direct deposit, you must provide a blank voided check or deposit slip to the Human Resources department (no exceptions).  Once you submit a direct deposit form, expect to continue receiving paper paychecks for an additional 2-3 pay periods. It normally takes 2-3 pay periods for direct deposit to go into effect. We will provide the direct deposit forms if you choose this option. If you don’t have checks or deposit slips, please contact Human Resources at 435-684-3082 for other options.

Are there ATMs in the area?
There is an ATM at the Hall’s Crossing Marina Store.

Can I cash a personal check or a paycheck?
You can cash your paycheck at Hall’s Crossing. In addition, you will have option to sign up for the ability to cash personal checks there for cash and to use personal checks around property.

Where are the closest grocery and shopping areas?
Hall’s Crossing Marina is very remote and isolated. We have a couple small convenience-type stores with a few grocery-type items. Otherwise, the nearest town with a store is 2 to 2 ½ hours away and the nearest city is Cortez, Co, about 4 hours away.

Where do I eat?
Hall’s Crossing Marina has an employee cafeteria that is open for lunch and dinner every day during the peak season. The employee dining room hours are 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm seven days a week.

Limited hours of operation are subject to apply during the beginning and end of the season based on how many employees we have on-site. Please plan ahead if you will be arriving before the cafeteria opens for the season or after it closes.

The Employee Cafeteria only accepts employee meal cards. You can get an employee meal card from the Housing office as you need them, which will then be deducted from your paycheck.

What are the standards of appearance/dress code?
Personal dress, appearance and cleanliness standards contribute to the morale of all employees and affect the business image Lake Powell presents to customers and visitors.

Employees are expected to dress in the appropriate, clean and pressed uniform and present a clean and neat appearance when they are on the job.

The following standards are to ensure our guests interact with employees who are clean, well-groomed and dressed appropriately. Failure to comply with these standards can result in disciplinary action, up to, and including, termination. You will receive an employee handbook on your first day of work, which outlines this policy in more detail.

What type of uniform do I need?
The basic elements of your uniform will be provided. As each department's uniform differs, it is best to contact your department manager with specific questions you may have regarding the uniform. Please note the following:

· You may be required to provide some of your uniform (i.e. Belt, Shoes, etc.)
· The required uniform must be worn at all times on the job.
· Open toed shoes and clogs are not acceptable.
· Employees are required to keep uniforms clean and pressed.
· Company uniforms, nametags, jackets and hats may not be worn off-duty.

Who do I report to or contact if I have any questions?
Questions regarding the job should be directed to your department manager or the person who interviewed you. If you don't have their contact information, feel free to contact Human Resources at 435-684-3082 and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have or direct you to the right place.
